ENG 21003 – Writing for the Sciences

This research article examine how two new technologies, namely lasers and ultrasonics, may have an effect on root canal therapies. When bacteria reach the inner tooth’s pulp region, which leads to the erosion of the pulp tissue, a root canal surgery has to be performed. A laser utilizes heat energy to disinfect the tooth while ultrasonic uses sound waves in a cleansing fluid to shake it up. The research wanted to determine whether those techniques influence the adhesion of the filling material to the tooth. Fortyeach were either laser or ultrasonic treated and then restored. The results demonstrated that both techniques were equally effective in terms of adhesion of the filling material to the root.
